IntroductionPhysical modeling is crucial in geotechnical engineering, but it presents significant challenges. Full-scale tests often are impractical due to their large size and logistical and financial constraints. To overcome these limitations, researchers often perform scaled model tests, which can be divided into two categories: tests, which are performed under Earth’s gravity; and centrifuge tests, which are performed under increased gravitational forces.
