    Getting Game Pass for the first time in late 2020 was a revelation. I always knew about it, but finally getting the Xbox to access it was exciting!Sure, there are a ton of games to play on the service, even five years ago. But early on, I gravitated towards Monster Train. This was a game I knew nothing about at the time and one that hooked me in for weeks. All in all, I played it for 40+ hours, unlocked everything in the game, and kept telling my friends how great it was.

    Since video games were invented, a sense of speed has been achieved with varied success. It could be a car, a spaceship, or maybe a blue hedgehog. Regardless of who or what the player controls, zipping through worlds at immense speed can be thrilling. HASTE: Broken Worlds, in many ways, defines what speed can be in a 3D game. It takes what Sega has always tried to do with Sonic (to varied degrees of success over the years) and nearly perfects it. Here, it’s all about momentum and survival.

It forces reflection and, at least for me, can help better understand how we got where we are. In 2025, this feels more relevant than ever. Grit & Valor 1949 is looking at this with some intriguing ideas, looping in steampunk aesthetics and an action-packed roguelike gameplay approach.
