    A jeweller in Castlebar has been left stunned after receiving a letter of apology from an embarrassed rugby fan, the Mayo News has reported. The man had attended the Connacht versus Munster match in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park in the Mayo town. Apparently, for whatever reason, he did not feel well passing through town afterwards and was sick in a jeweller's doorway.

    A huge success for Mayo school Sacred Heart Westport. The rugby 7s team has clinched a national title. The Sacred Heart School earned their place in the All Ireland IRFU Rugby 7s final after bringing home the Connacht title for the second year in a row in March. The tournament was held at Barnhall RFC, Co. Kildare. Rugby Sevens is a very fast paced game with 7 minutes played in each half with 7 players on the pitch.

    A rugby talent from Mayo has made a huge step forward in her career. Aoife Heaney from Claremorris Colts RFC has been selected to represent Ireland U-18 in the upcoming U-18 Six Nations Festival. "A huge achievement and well-deserved recognition for her hard work, talent, and dedication. Best of luck to Aoife and the entire squad as they prepare to represent Ireland on the international stage," her club wrote in a statement.

Ronan McGarrity showcased his leadership skills only a few weeks ago, in Ballina's top of the table clash against the  unbeaten Tralee Warriors.
