    A redo of one of the world’s most notable wine competitions — the 1976 Judgment of Paris — will pit U.S. wines against French Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. To select the finalists for this competition, judges tasted nearly 400 wines in a single day. Would I survive, and what would it tell me about the state of American wine? Tasting wine can be hard work. Really. I’m not talking about a weekend with friends tooling around wine country in a fun bus.
