Mountain View's Landon Solaas Signs at Chadron State for Football

Mountain View senior Landon Solaas will further his football career after committing to Chadron State College as a kicker. Solaas was a three-year varsity starter and letter-winner for the Buffalos. He was an all-state selection his senior season in 2024 and a two-time all-conference pick during his prep career. Solaas played tight end and defensive end at MVHS. He was also the kicker. Landon has been selected to play for the South Team at the Wyoming Shrine Bowl in June 2025.

The 2025 Wyoming prep soccer season for the ladies is in Week 5. With the holiday weekend approaching, most teams will be off the pitch by Thursday, except for one match. There are some rivalry games on the slate. Plus, three will feature ranked teams squaring off. Of course, the new polls will be out on Wednesday. Shaffer and Paris Earn the WyoPreps Athlete of the Week Honors

A softball player and track athlete are the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week, presented by Premier Bone and Joint Centers. Following last week’s performances, April 7 through April 13, 2025, Thunder Basin senior Paige Shaffer and Midwest senior Quincy Paris were selected for the weekly awards. Shaffer led No. 2 Thunder Basin to a 5-1 week with a perfect record in the circle and a near .700 batting average on the softball diamond.
Worland's Trajn Swalstad Picks Eastern Washington for XC/Track

Worland senior Trajn Swalstad has signed to run cross-country and track at Eastern Washington University. Swalstad has won six state championships during his prep career in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. He won the 3A state cross-country championship last fall and led Worland to its first team title by one point. Swalstad was undefeated in the state during the fall 2024 season.
Changes All Over the WyoPreps Soccer Rankings, Except at No. 1

The WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls saw three teams re-enter the rankings on Wednesday. Both the Buffalo girls and boys in Class 3A and the Natrona County girls in 4A. The Bison moved into the fifth spot in both 3A polls. Natrona County slid back into fifth in 4A. The top-ranked teams did not change. Powell and Kelly Walsh held the top spot in the girls’ polls. Cody and Jackson remained No. 1 in the boys’ rankings. All four divisions saw more movement within the top five.
A Slight Change in the New WyoPreps Coaches & Media Softball Poll

There was one small difference in the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll released on Wednesday compared to last week. The one change was that Cheyenne Central and Wheatland flipped spots in the top five. The Indians moved to fourth, which pushed the Bulldogs down to fifth. Both teams received the same number of fifth-place votes, but Central garnered more ballots for third. The top three remained the same. Cheyenne East received 12 of the 16 votes for first.
Wyoming Tracksters Have Solid Showing at Arcadia Invitational

Eight Wyoming high school track and field athletes competed at last weekend’s prestigious Arcadia Invitational. Cheyenne Central, Laramie, Sheridan, and Star Valley were represented in various events on Saturday. Four competed in open divisions, while four competed in a seeded or invitational division. Sheridan’s Chance Morris was the only athlete from the Cowboy State who was in two of the top-tier divisions. Morris ran 10.89 seconds in the 100-meter Seeded division.
Wyoming Legion Baseball Scoreboard: April 14-20, 2025

The third week of the Wyoming Legion Baseball season in 2025 is relatively quiet with the upcoming holiday weekend. Most teams are off this week. Some teams have not even started. Only eight of the 23 teams at the top two levels of Legion baseball in Wyoming are trying to get on the diamond. The two Gillette teams and two Cheyenne teams will face out-of-state opponents. The Bulls will host the Jets, and Lovell heads to Sheridan to face the Troopers.

Four weeks of the 2025 Wyoming prep girls' soccer season have been played. While some movement occurred in the standings, only one conference leader changed, and that was in the 3A East. Powell, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, and Thunder Basin top their respective leagues one month into the season. Three unbeaten teams remain this spring, while four still seek their first victory. The standings include all matches played through April 12, 2025.

Two conference games that counted in the pod or quadrant standings were also contested. Those were in the Southeast Pod.
