Last week, Northeast Heights City Councilor Brook Bassan suggested halting two keystone projects for our city - the Rail Trail and New Mexico United's soccer stadium - to instead focus exclusively on a project in her district, the North Domingo Baca Aquatic Center (Sunday Journal, Aug. 6, "Aquatic center should come before stadium and Rail Trail"). The Parks and Recreation Department is involved with all of these projects and as director, I know that all three will be game changers for our city.
