Isuzu MU-X (2025) Launch Review

The Isuzu MU-X (based on the D-Max bakkie) is a 3-row, body-on-frame adventure SUV pitched against the segment-leading Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. While we’ve never regarded the MU-X a sub-par product, its new-vehicle sales figures lagged significantly behind those of its Toyota rival (by over 4 000 units since 2021) – something Isuzu wishes to change with this update. iCar V23 Confirmed for SA in 2026

Visually resembling a cross between a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, Jeep and Suzuki Jimny, the iCar V23 is set to join the 03 model when the brand launches in South Africa in 2026. As a reminder, there’s been a U-turn on strategy with the Jaecoo J6 reverting to its original iCar 03 name. iCar’s presentation at Auto Shanghai made no attempt at hiding its inspirations, with the Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes-Benz G-Class and classic Land Rover Defender pictured alongside the V23.
Omoda C3 Revealed: Confirmed for SA

The Omoda C3 is a new futuristically-styled crossover with plenty of sharp angles and the emphasis is on geometric shapes. It’s an interesting look for sure, in an era where design language is trending towards softer, rounded and less polarising shapes. We attended the global debut of this vehicle in Wuhu, China which is the home of the Chery Group.
iCar Brand Confirmed for SA

Cars.co.za can confirm that Jaecoo’s plans to launch the cute-looking J6 EV off-roader have been put on hold. Speaking exclusively to Cars.co.za, the brand confirmed the J6 will instead revert to its original branding iCar. The announcement was sudden and Jaecoo’s local arm was already in the advanced planning stages for the J6’s SA market launch, which was earmarked for May/June 2025. A fresh report from UK publication Autocar has confirmed the 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain will no longer be offered in the Mercedes-AMG C63. As a reminder, the powertrain had remarkable outputs of 500 kW and 1 020 Nm giving it phenomenal acceleration, both in-gear and from standstill.
