I’d heard that the “1990s generation Chevy truck” — i.e. the GMT400 — was good. Say the name “GMT400” in any automotive gathering, and you’ll conjure up a crowd of true believers who will talk your ears off about stout G80 differentials, torquey TBI 350s, and indestructible NV4500 transmissions. I’d never owned a GMT400 because I’m more of a Jeep person, but a few months ago I scored a rust-free five-speed 4×4 1989 Chevy K1500 for only $4900 — a deal I could not pass up.

If you’re like me, then much of your childhood involved comparing cars’ 0-60 mph times. This was the measuring stick used to compare performance of various cars, and it was always exciting when a new car (especially if it was an affordable one) could sprint to 60 mph under 6 seconds. The “0-60” standard has been indelibly scratched into my automotive psyche, which is why I think it’s worth writing this article about the new 0-60 mph record, because it is bonkers.

I’ve been driving my “Holy Grail” 2021 BMW i3S for almost a year now, and it is without question one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I adore the strange experimental carbon fiber, suicide door-equipped, rear scooter motor-having electric city car, and plan to keep it until the end of time. But as much as I love the wood-dashed wonder from Leipzig, one thing that’s driving me bonkers is its ride quality. It’s bad. Really, really bad.

A few days ago, Tom, a John Deere Service Technician living in southern Sweden, was gardening on his property when his tiller made a loud BANG! His drive belt slipped, Tom lifted the tiller, and he continued working. Then his wife began pulling weeds near where the Tiller had come to a crashing halt, and she discovered wires. That’s when she, along with her children, uncovered an American hot-rod icon buried right there in the soil — a flathead Ford V8 that had gone missing decades before.

Which BMW i3S does it for you? Gold with silver accents or gray with blue accents? https://t.co/Bh8lgSJnvR

It's been 9 years since my first-ever Moab Easter Jeep Safari build, #projectswisscheese. I paid $600 for this Beater With A Heater. A junkyard lift; some 31s; and a ton of tough, rusty maintenance turned this thing into an off-road beast. And thus, my writing career began. https://t.co/Rsj5EDHM2E
