    For Christians, the answer is clear. But that shouldn't entail a light regard for religious, economic, and political liberty. We use the words freedom and liberty frequently but often loosely and inconsistently. In his new book, Called to Freedom: Retrieving Christian Liberty in an Age of License, Brad Littlejohn clarifies the uses and abuses of these terms and constructs a Christian account of liberty to incorporate its various dimensions.

    It is important to clarify exactly what we are considering as we turn to the use of natural law in the public square. I wish to address how Christians might engage non-Christians on moral and political issues of common concern. But I am not addressing how Christians should evangelize non-Christians. Evangelization is one of the church’s central purposes, as Jesus’s Great Commission indicates (Matt 28:18–20).
