CROOKED LAKE — Prairie Heights High School rising senior Cade Bachelor has been participating in 4-H since age 8. Wednesday night at the Steuben County 4-H Fair, Bachelor reached the pinnacle of 4-H when he was named Supreme Showman in the prestigious annual contest. This year Cade was the sole champion; last year he tied with Harlee Henney for the title, the first time there had been a tie since 1997. With nine years in 4-H, Bachelor has worked with feeder calves and horses over the years.

LIGONIER – For the past few seasons, Stefany Dominguez has been a vitally important part of the West Noble High School track team. Her efforts both on the track and in the classroom have culminated in an opportunity for her to compete at the next level. Late last month, Dominguez officially signed a letter of intent to continue her education and compete in college track at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne.

BLOOMINGTON — There's no better way for a Hoosier State prep athlete to wrap up their career than by wearing the uniform of the Indiana All-Stars. Columbia City’s Emma Hiss and Whitko’s Addie Garr had that special opportunity on Saturday when they played in the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana All-Star Games at Andy Mohr Field on the Indiana University campus. Hiss and Garr were teammates on the North squad, which dropped a pair of six-inning games to their South counterparts.

CROOKED LAKE — Recent Prairie Heights High School graduate Alexyss Keener was already figuring to be very busy this next year: Keener will be headed to Huntington University this fall, aiming for a bachelor’s degree in nursing with an eye toward becoming a travel nurse or flight nurse. Friday night at the Steuben County Fairgrounds, Keener’s calendar got even more full: She was voted Miss Steuben County as the 2025 Steuben County Fair got underway with opening ceremonies.

ALBION — Former Central Noble volleyball player Anna Christopher just thought her volleyball days were over. She had already been accepted to Ball State University and was planning on moving forward with her education at the Muncie school. But sometimes, life happens after you’ve made other plans. So, instead Christopher will be headed to Marian University Ancilla in Plymouth this fall to continue her education — and still play volleyball.
