    The Artist’s Hoard will officially open its doors this weekend, supplying the Shelbyville area with a new, cozy, colorful corner. It’s a bright spot located at 846 Union Street-next door to Piggly Wiggly market off Highway 41A North. Shelbyville natives and residents, Heather and David Fry, are hoping to make the new store this area’s go-to spot for high-quality art supplies, unique stationery and gifts. Workshops will also be held.

    Bedford County Veterans Council will present a Memorial Day service on Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m. on the south side of the public square. Speakers include Deputy Chief of Staff of Intelligence for the TN National Guard Tommie Boleyn and Paul Engel, local Constitutional scholar. Boleyn first enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in August of 1982 while still attending high school.

    Last week, 13 Bedford County Commissioners went with advice from their legal team and decided to appeal the lawsuit decision with the City. The judge from Murfreesboro handed down the opinion in favor of the City a couple weeks ago. Now that the County has decided to appeal his decision, basically the process starts all over and could take another year to process. In addition, it is estimated hundreds of thousands of dollars will be spent again on this lawsuit.
