(Alliance News) - Telecommunications services provider Airtel Africa PLC on Friday said it has been issued a national telecom operator licence in Uganda after paying USD74.6 million through its subsidiary Airtel Uganda Ltd. Following a period of negotiation and transition to a new licensing regime, the new licence will commence on July 1 and be valid for 20 years. "Airtel Uganda will retain all its current spectrum subject to the law and terms of assignment.

For the Volunteer award, 19-year-old Kwaku Amoako, has been nominated for his work at Pollards Hill Library. Since coming back from Ghana in February, Kwaku has wanted to study IT at South Thames College in Morden. But when he was told that courses did not start until September, he didn’t want to just be stuck in his house watching TV. He said: “I have an IT background which I can use to help people, so I just went to the library and started volunteering.

(Alliance News) - Ireland's service sector declined in November at the fastest rate since June, with weakening activity trends reported in most sectors, survey results from IHS Markit revealed on Thursday. The AIB Ireland services purchasing managers' index dropped to 45.4 in November from 48.3 in October, reflecting the third consecutive month of contraction the Irish service sector.

(Alliance News) - Building materials firm Grafton Group PLC on Tuesday said it will acquire wooden staircase manufacturer AVC Ltd, which trades as StairBox, for GBP44 million on a cash and debt free basis. The payment includes GBP4 million which will be deferred until November 2022. Stairbox offers staircase services mainly to trade customers operating in the residential repair, maintenance and improvement market in the UK.
