(Cleveland)- Cleveland officials recently showcased two new fleet vehicles that have been added. Monday, April 14, prior to the start of the regular Cleveland City Council meeting, the vehicles, a new service delivery truck and garbage truck, were displayed in the parking lot of the Cleveland Community Center/Police Department building. These new truck replace their counterparts that have been in service for many years. The old Service Delivery Truck, in fact, was purchased in 1989.

(Cleveland)-White County School System Superintendent Dr. Laurie Burkett has been recognized by the Georgia School Superintendents Association with the 2025 GSSA President’s Award. Superintendent Burkett was presented with the award this past Wednesday at the GSSA’s Annual Conference!The GSSA President’s Award is given each year to a superintendent who demonstrates outstanding leadership in their school system and community.

(Cleveland)- Forecasters are out with a High Fire Danger advisory for northeast Georgia Friday afternoon into the evening hours, with sustained winds of 10 to 15 MPH expected along with gusts of 25 to 30 MPH. Relative Humidities will likely stay above 25 percent. However, dry fuels will add to the high fire danger conditions. It’s advisable that you refrain from any outdoor burning.

Mrs. Alma Elizabeth Pruitt, age 94, of Suches, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025. Born in Suches on June 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Rosa Harkins Tow and the late John Harton Tow. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William J. Pruitt; her children, Tony Mack Pruitt and Joan Wilkins Beall; her siblings Juanita Gooch and JW Tow; stepmother, Thelma Tow; and son-in-laws Robert L. Wilkins and Ben Beall.

Everyone is invited to come and cheer on the athletes. The opening ceremonies and Olympic Torch Relay will be held at 9 AM at the White County High School Stadium.
