(WNCN) – The North Carolina General Assembly welcomed a four-legged friend on Thursday morning: Duke. “Duke was emaciated when we got him, he was anemic, he had heartworm disease, all consequences of being sorely neglected for many, many years,” Daphna Nachminovitch, senior vice-president of cruelty investigations for PETA, said of the dog.
