A Far-right agitator and failed election candidate who has been sharing footage of rioting that erupted in the North this week has called on ‘Catholics and Protestants’ to ‘unite against the invasion of our island’. Niall McConnell, a sheep farmer from Castlefinn, Co. Donegal, shared footage of the violence that unfolded in Ballymena, Co. Antrim, taken by a prominent former Loyalist terrorist, whom he later hosted live on his YouTube channel.

Gardai decided to arrest the chief suspect in the Annie McCarrick murder case after travelling to another jurisdiction to speak with a close associate of the man, Extra.ie has learned. It is understood the arrest came as detectives worked on the theory that the 26-year-old American student was murdered by a ‘jealous’ man known to her.

Pop star Samantha Mumba said the song contest to choose Ireland's Eurovision entry should not be staged on The Late Late Show. The teen 'Gotta Tell You' singer, now 42, yesterday indicated the RTÉ chat show is not the best venue for the Eurosong competition, saying it 'deserves its own [show]' and 'ideally' should be in a venue that is 'set up, even sound-wise, for musicians'. 'Because I don't think [a television studio] is the set-up,' she told the Brendan O'Connor Show yesterday.
