The Motivational Interviewing for Fall Prevention (MI-FP) study aimed to engage older adults in fall prevention strategies. We report on the feasibility, intervention fidelity, and preliminary impact of MI-FP. We conducted a pilot randomized controlled trial to test MI-FP among older (age ≥ 65) primary care patients at high fall risk in a Pacific Northwest clinic in the United States.

Dear EditorWe thank Neal and co-authors for their response. The investigation was primarily about the way in which the trial was conceived, planned, and agreed commercially with Grail. It was not about the ability or integrity of the researchers charged with running it. The comment which was quoted about the trial being ‘unethical’ - was an opinion - related to whether such a poorly performing test in detecting early stage cancer should have received political favour.
