    Two women who were hospitalised after botched bum and hip filler procedures in the back of a hair salon have joined calls for proper regulation of Northern Ireland’s growing cosmetic industry. Both women developed severe bacterial infections after the non-surgical procedures - which were carried out by the same beautician who had no medical qualifications. Melissa Crawford was left unable to walk for weeks and is still physically and emotionally scarred after developing complications from a BBL.

    Fifteen cardiac patients have had their surgeries cancelled by the Belfast Health Trust in the past week following a dispute amongst some senior staff members, UTV can reveal.The dispute among members of the cardiac team has led to concerns over patient safety.The Belfast Trust said the surgeries had to be rescheduled due to "unexpected staff absence".

    The Department of Health has defended the £188,000 salary that will be paid to the man appointed to try and reform Northern Ireland’s health service. Mike Farrar, a former high-ranking official in NHS England, has been announced as the Department of Health’s interim Permanent Secretary. His salary is higher than that of other departmental Permanent Secretaries and even the head of the Civil Service Dr Jayne Brady.

    Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has warned Secretary of State Hilary Benn not to view the Northern Ireland public as "spongers". Mr Nesbitt was hitting back at comments made on Tuesday by the Northern Ireland Secretary, who said that a lack of funding from Westminster was not to blame for a crisis in public services in Northern Ireland.
