    Plans have been drawn-up to keep the Hertfordshire Music Service within the county council – rather than have it seek charitable status. For generations the music service has operated from within the county council, offering instrumental lessons and musical opportunities to many thousands of the county’s schoolchildren. But seven years ago councillors decided, that the service should move towards acquiring charitable status, or another ‘appropriate’ status.

    Councillors have discussed the Watford General rebuild timetable Disappointment at the latest timetable to rebuild Watford General Hospital has been expressed at a meeting of the county council. Bosses at the West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust had expected the redevelopment of the Watford site to get under way as early as this year (2025).

Social care, children’s services, highways, waste disposal and public health are among the services provided by the county council. Yesterday (February 25), a meeting of the county council determined how funds should be allocated.
