As the good-natured SiriusXM DJ and Grammy-winning rapper said, it’s “the countdown to the throw down” for us here in New Jersey. Roxanne Shante has done more for popular culture and the overarching musical lexicon than many people give her credit for. There was a point in her life where one of her diss tracks could, and would, knock you down. She learned to read lips and leaned into the wild moments around the Big Apple that she, as a stylist, got herself into.

By the end of this week, 3EB will be able to check off playing yet another New Jersey venue – this time, the lovely NJPAC. The last time we interviewed Third Eye Blind was for a cover story in 2017, and we spoke to frontman Stephan Jenkins about everything from stage to surf (two well-known loves of his). They were about to rock PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel for their annual Summer Gods tour. A couple of years before that, the band took some time to hit up The Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

Brian did it best. Being the best at something, especially in the public eye, comes with pressure. Celebrities are not exempt from that, and even more so for those who found the height of their fame in the midst of psychedelia.
