The Ohio Public Works Commission has recently announced a funding allocation of over $686,000 to the department for the conservation of a densely wooded area situated along Eakin Road and Whitethorne Avenue. “We are extremely excited to receive the grant funding for this project,” said recreation and parks spokesperson Kerry Francis.

Mike DeWine’s proposed state budget calls for the allocation of $23.4 billion in education funding, which includes the final implementation of the fair school funding formula developed in 2017. However, under the school funding budget proposal, more than half of the state’s public schools would see a reduction in funding.

The board unanimously approved a resolution at its meeting on March 11 to solicit bids for the planned project. Township officials say the construction of a new maintenance building is long overdue. “The building is so old that it is deteriorating,” said Administrator Shane Farnsworth.

At its meeting on March 4, the commission voted against a motion to join the city program which sets a uniform election date for neighborhood advisory boards. The decision was not unanimous. There were nine commissioners who voted against the motion to participate in the city-wide election.
