Another mock draft has the Falcons selecting Texas A&M EDGE Shemar Stewart in Round 1The last time the Atlanta Falcons drafted outside of the top 10, they selected Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell with the 16th overall pick. The team must take a similar approach when it comes to the 2025 NFL draft. Just like they did in 2020, the Falcons will almost certainly target a defensive player at pick No. 15. A host of names have been thrown out, but a few have been mentioned more than others.

After spending 10 years with the Atlanta Falcons, and one year each with the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles, wide receiver Julio Jones has officially retired from the NFL. Jones was one of those rare talents, like Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson, who redefined the position with once-in-a-lifetime physical traits. The salary cap has been a hot topic for the Atlanta Falcons all offseason. Flirting near the bottom of the league in terms of total cap space, the team did make some moves to get into a better cap position to sign free agents and better position themselves for the upcoming 2025 NFL draft. One of the team's controversial yet necessary moves was releasing veteran Grady Jarrett at the start of free agency. While this freed up over $16 million in cap space, the Falcons didn't stop there.

The Falcons haven't been very active thus far in free agency, mostly due to the situation regarding Kirk Cousins. The quarterback's massive contract has limited what the front office can do. The team has signed several fringe players, but retaining cornerback Mike Hughes may be the Falcons' best offseason move. This isn't to suggest Hughes is a major difference-maker in the secondary, but more so an indicator of how little salary cap space the team is working with.

After spending ten years with the Falcons, Grady Jarrett no longer calls Atlanta home. The team decided to part ways with the defensive anchor as it attempts to navigate the free agency market with minimal cap space. Jarrett wasn't a free agent for long, though, as Chicago quickly came in and inked the defensive lineman to a three-year, $43.5 million contract. Jarrett has ended his Falcons tenure with 36.5 sacks, 496 tackles, and two Pro Bowl appearances.
