NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — A bridge is set to close in Newberry County for repairs next week, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. SCDOT will close and detour a portion of SC 773 to conduct work on the bridge over I-26 starting May 19. The closure is expected to last until July. A signed detour will be set up. SCDOT asks driver to pay attention and use caution when driving through the area.

A person is dead after a fire at a mobile home on Sunday evening, according to the Columbia-Richland Fire Department. Authorities say first shift crews responded to S. Goodwin Circle in Gadsden just before 5:45 p.m.Firefighters arrived to find a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Crews worked to establish a water supply and extinguish the fire, according to authorities. Authorities say that after entering the home, one person was found.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — A man accused of killing a 22-year-old from North Carolina visiting friends in Columbia is set to appear in court next week. Alexander Dickey, 30, will have a bond hearing at the Columbia Municipal Court at 11:30 a.m.Dickey is accused of shooting and killing 22-year-old Logan Federico, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, on Cypress Street in Columbia.
