The Richland County Sheriff's Department is searching for a teen wanted for attempted murder. Jadis Edwards, 19, is wanted for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Authorities say Edwards is wanted in connection the a shooting that occurred on May 14 in the 3600 block of Hoyt Street. On May 14, 2025, deputies responded to a shooting in the 3600 block of Hoyt Street. Upon arrival, they found an victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body.

The rescue took place on the river between Highway 1 and I-20. Authorities say the person was removed from the river and is in stable condition. Kershaw County Fire Service, Kershaw County EMS, Camden Fire Department and Lugoff Fire Department participated in the rescue.

On Thursday, Columbia Metropolitan Airport will celebrate the launch of new Spirit Airlines flights. CAE will host a press conference and gate party to celebrate the launch of Spirit Airlines flights to Newark (EWR), Orlando (MCO), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). The celebration will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the gate before the first flight from CAE to EWR. Last week, CAE was awarded a service contract for ground handling operations for Spirit Airlines.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — The Richland County Sheriff's Department is searching for a missing woman. Mary Tresca Cook, 43, was last seen on Monday on Colonial Drive near MUSC. She was last seen wearing grey jogging pants, an "Arriat" hoodie and brown flip flops. Cook may be experiencing a medical emergency and is considered to be in danger.
