When I was younger, I always heard that college would be the best four years of my life. As I got closer to attending and all throughout my time here, I heard a different sentiment, reassuring me that it’s okay if college isn’t and that life will go on after graduation and it will be better. I was always surprised to hear this advice and rejected it wholeheartedly, because really, how could it get better than this?

Recently, Taylor Swift has been under fire for her public friendship with a Donald Trump supporter after endorsing Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, seemed to show her support for Trump through an Instagram like about a month ago, and Swift has been seen with her since then.

With the impending beginning of the upcoming school year, I’ve crafted a list of ins and outs to remind myself of my priorities. These highlight the important dos and don’ts that will aid with a smooth semester. Using trial and error from the past three years, this list should keep me in check and shape the outcome of the semester. While everybody can and should do their own thing, there are inevitably some aspects of campus life  that trend in and out of style among the Pitt student population.

As I enter my last semester as an undergrad, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about when I moved in for my first semester. My three years so far at Pitt have taught me so many valuable lessons and allowed me to experience so many amazing memories, but it took a little trial and error to get there. Here are five things that made my college experience the best time of my life and are essential lessons for anyone going into their first year to make the most out of their college years.
