Stars formation in local dwarf galaxies is typically associated with rotating H i gas discs, whereas the classical dwarfs spheroidals (dSphs) are gas-free and have an oblate spheroidal morphology of old stars. This raises the question of how the majority of stars were formed in common dSphs if indeed stars are mainly born in discs, in particular for those with simple, single-age populations for which there is no sign of a significant merger evolution.
