Being "Lynchian" involves surrealism, and pushing storytelling boundaries. January 15, 2025 saw the tragic passing of the incomparable David Lynch. Known to most as a director and filmmaker, Lynch was also a musical and visual artist, expressing his surrealist and experimental ideas in pretty much every creative medium he could.

Stardew Valley encourages players to live off the land, foraging and gathering materials available throughout the game's map. Each area — Cindersap Forest, the Beach, Calico Desert, and more — offers its own ways for players to get their hands on produce and building materials. One area within Stardew Valley — or rather, a sub-area — can be a little trickier to access than most of the others.

Despite that, though, Pelican Town's resident farmer can still speak to and eventually befriend this strange creature. It's not easy, as it requires learning a whole new language; furthermore, it doesn't net the same benefits as friendships with other villagers do. Still, it's a fun aspect to the game, and provides a touch of the fantastical to the player's story.

The proprietor of Pelican Town's Stardrop Saloon, Gus is one of the most lovable characters in all of Stardew Valley. Good-natured and jovial, Gus is a friend to all in town, including the player character. Of course, players still have to put in the effort before Gus becomes a close confidante. As with all the villagers in town, Gus has his own likes and dislikes, his own goals and worries.
