    RIA aggregator Merit Financial Advisors has acquired RCM Investments, a Utah-based wealth management firm with $281 million in assets. The deal marks Merit’s first office in Utah and its 37th acquisition since receiving backing from Wealth Partners Capital Group and HGGC’s Aspire Holdings in 2020, Private Banker International reported. RCM’s four principals will join Merit as wealth managers and partners.

    Thames Water‘s effort to avoid nationalization has been dealt a major setback as U.S. private equity firm KKR (NYSE: KKR) withdrew its bid to acquire an equity stake, the BBC reported. KKR had been the preferred partner in the utility’s recapitalization push but has now walked away, with Thames calling the move “disappointing.” The troubled water utility, burdened by £20 billion (around $27.1 billion) in debt, now appears unlikely to meet its goal of securing fresh equity by the end of June.

    German pharmaceutical company Stada is in talks with two private equity firms regarding a potential sale, Reuters reported. If those talks fall through, owners Bain Capital and Cinven may pursue an IPO as early as October. A Stada spokesperson confirmed the company is evaluating both sale and IPO options with its owners. The firm had previously postponed a Frankfurt IPO in March due to market volatility.
