McEnearney was accompanied by a young couple who were trying to buy their first house. The couple had good jobs and lots of promise, but on paper they did not qualify for a large enough loan to purchase the house. A realtor from another firm had suggested they look in Shirlington, but the couple preferred Old Town.

    By Denise DunbarAt 8:59 p.m. tonight, Alexandria began dispatching fire and medic units to Reagan National Airport. The units were told it was a “mass casualty event,” that an airplane was in the Potomac River and they were to go to runway 33. At least 10 Alexandria fire and medic units were dispatched to help with the rescue attempt, according to dispatches heard on openmhz.com.
