A collection of photograms created by Ken Schaefer, a former campus naturalist and groundskeeper at Oakton College (OCC), will be featured at the Historic Jefferson Home in Des Plaines through the Izaak Walton League’s Des Plaines Chapter. “This is a PowerPoint presentation because the building is not set up as a gallery,” said 71-year-old Schaefer, who resides in Des Plaines. “I’ll also bring examples. This is my first show there.

Advocate Health Care on Wednesday (Jan. 1) announced its first babies born in the new year. Ethan Jovanni Maxinez was born at 12:56 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Ethan weighed 6 lbs., 9 oz. and was 19 inches long. His mother is Zara Amirova and father is Giovanni Maxinez. The family resides in Chicago. Scarlett Carmela Sartori was born at 12:12 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. She weighed 6 lbs., 15 oz. and was 19.75 inches.
