RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation wants community members to Canoe the Slough. That's the name of its unique fundraiser happening on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Those who register will get to experience the plants and animals that live in the wetlands at the Rosewood Nature Study Area via the Boynton Slough. Normally, this area is closed to launching any kind of watercraft.

It is asking citizens to complete a nine-question survey. The survey hopes to identify key areas that residents feel should be addressed if an ordinance is adopted and how likely a resident is to build one of these units on their property.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - There's an effort underway to create a Cultural Corridor in Northern Nevada. It would involve three destinations chosen by Travel Nevada: Carson City, Carson Valley and Virginia City. The goal is to find a way to unite the three destinations and come up with a plan to promote cultural tourism, economic growth, and support for local artists in the region. All of these destinations have a high concentration of historic sites, heritage events and art offerings.
