This weekend, women’s hockey played their post-Thanksgiving match-ups, feasting on two victories over Providence College and Holy Cross. The two wins break a six-game winless streak that saw the Bears lose four games and tie twice. “I think this was definitely a good weekend for us to get back to who we are as a team,” defender Cameron Sikich ’25 wrote in an email to the Herald.

This past weekend, women’s hockey (6-5-1, 4-5-1 ECAC) took on ranked opponents No. 6 Clarkson (12-3-1, 5-1-0 ECAC) and No. 9 St. Lawrence (9-5-4, 3-1-2 ECAC). Though the Bears have slowed down since their strong start to the season, the team managed to gain some points in the ECAC standings at home, tieing St. Lawrence 1-1 after losing Friday’s match to Clarkson 4-1. “That’s 1.5 points in our league, which is always exciting,” Jade Iginla ’26 said after Saturday’s game against St. Lawrence.

In a bid to defend its 7s title from last spring, the women’s rugby team squared off against the top-seeded Dartmouth Big Green in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association semifinals this Saturday. Despite playing a great game in Hanover, the Bears were unable to punch their tickets to the upcoming national championship. Two weeks before the semifinal matchup, the Bears faced a crushing 60-19 loss against the undefeated Dartmouth team.

Women’s soccer failed to bring home the Ivy League Tournament trophy at a game against Princeton on Sunday, losing 2-0. The loss means Bruno is the tournament runner-up, a better result than last year’s first-game loss to Columbia. Despite the Bears’ efforts, Princeton had already been declared the winner of the Ivy League’s regular-season play, breaking a four-year winning streak.

No. 14 ranked women’s ice hockey (6-0-0, 40-0 ECAC) is off to a storming start to the 2024-25 season. After two thrilling victories against No. 7 Quinnipiac and Princeton on Oct. 25 and 26, respectively, and advancing to No. 15 in the polls ahead of the weekend, Bruno was primed and ready. Coming into two post-Halloween matchups against Ivy opponents Dartmouth (0-6-0, 0-4-0 ECAC) and Harvard (2-3-0, 1-3-0 ECAC), the Bears took home no tricks, only treats.
