The Knoxville Baseball Squad defeated Winterset on Thursday 7-6 holding on in the late innings to preserve the victory. Six of Knoxville’s seven runs were scored in the first three innings as the Panthers benefitted from Husky errors and ineffective pitching. Kyler Gifford was 1/3 with two RBI and Lincoln Norris got two hits in two at bats. Brady Roozeboom got the win going two innings, allowing four runs and striking out two. Knoxville pitchers combined to strike out 11 Winterset batters.

The Melcher-Dallas Summer Sports Squads fell to Ankeny Christian on Thursday with the softball squad losing 6-1 and the baseball team being doubled up 8-4. In the softball contest, the Saints were unable to fully take advantage of ACA errors with Ashlyn Metz getting the lone RBI. Gabby Overgaard with two, and Jenna Mickey and Kinley Bennett had one hit each. Lotty Nolte took the loss allowing six runs on six hits and striking out two.

The Twin Cedars Baseball Squad nearly made a furious come back against Baxter but ultimately fell short on Thursday. The Bolts scored all eight runs in the first two innings, but had to hold one as the Sabers scored in the 2nd, 5th, and 7th innings. Meanwhile, the Twin Cedars Softball Squad a night after falling to top ranked Wayne, blew out Lamoni 11-3. Twin Cedars was up 6-0 before the Demons hit the scoreboard.

Two crooked number innings were the difference for Centerville in the Knoxville Softball Squad’s loss to the Redettes on Wednesday 5-3 as heard on 95.3 KNIA. Centerville struck for three runs in the 3rd inning, but the Panthers settled in defensively and held Centerville scoreless until the 6th while scoring a run in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings highlighted by the first home run of the season when Ralei Danner connected to left field.
