Melcher-Dallas sprinter Trista Hansaker seems to be peaking at the right time of the season. She broke her own school records in the 100 and 200 for the second straight meet last night in Pleasantville. Hansaker lowered the 100 mark to :12.70 while finishing 2nd and lowered the 200 mark to :26.88, also placing 2nd. Gabby Overgaard placed 2nd in the shot put and discus to help the Saints finish 7th as a team.
Wilkins Hired As New Knoxville Girls Basketball Coach

Knoxville has hired a new girls basketball coach, and it is a familiar name to the school district. Tracy Wilkins, who has served as high school principal and will take over the reins after serving as volunteer coach for the past several seasons, was approved at the Knoxville School Board meeting on Monday. Before coming to Knoxville ,Wilkins served as head girls coach at North Mahaska from 1997-2002 and at Maquoketa from 2002-2008 with a combined record of 105-127.

Tasker Philips has felt like he has been the nail for the better part of the 2025 season at the Knoxville Raceway. He has crashed in both the 410 and 360 and Saturday his 410 blew a motor to start the night. But it ended with his 360 parked in victory lane after dueling with Clint Garner for much of the A-Main until finally pulling away in the closing laps for his first win at Knoxville in 2025. Phillips tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was finally good to get some positive results.

It is a busy Monday for Knoxville Sports as the boys golf heads to Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa for the South Central Conference meet. The girls tennis squads travel to Fairfield for the individual singles and doubles regional while boys and girls track and field travels to Pella for one final tune up before the state qualifier on Thursday. The Soccer squads will celebrate Senior Night against Clarke with a double header starting at 5:00 with the girls match and the boys will play at 7:30.

Knoxville Boys Soccer Player Riley Sailors has signed to continue his career at Grand View next year. Sailors has been the backup goalkeeper for the Panthers this year, but a couple of weeks ago was pressed into action when starting goalie Carson Cecil was injured. Sailors tells KNIA/KRLS he learned a lot about himself and what it is like to be the last line of defense for the Panthers. Sailors: “He put a lot of confidence into me and that was the main thing.
