    Two pharmaceutical industry groups have released a report calling for stronger collaboration and regulatory reforms to address worsening drug shortages in Canada. The Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association (CGPA) and the Canadian Association for Pharmacy Distribution Management (CAPDM) developed the report in response to Health Canada’s call for stakeholder cooperation. “Resilience against drug shortages rests on the strength of partnerships,” said CGPA president Jim Keon.

    Nearly half of Canadian workers are now using generative artificial intelligence (AI) in their jobs, more than doubling last year’s adoption rate, according to KPMG in Canada’s latest Generative AI Adoption Index. However, as usage grows, concerns over risky behaviours and inadequate employer oversight are also rising. The survey of 2,183 Canadian employees found that 46 per cent are using generative AI in their work, up from 22 per cent in 2023.

    The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has issued its first accreditation for liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering, authorizing North Vancouver’s Seaspan Energy to refuel select ships calling at the Port of Vancouver. The accreditation follows a multi-year evaluation process that adhered to international safety best practices, including recommended guidelines from the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF).

    Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and ATCO EnPower, a division of Canadian Utilities Ltd., have completed construction of hydrogen production and refueling facilities in Calgary and Edmonton, and are now fully operational. As part of its Hydrogen Locomotive Program, CPKC is retrofitting several diesel locomotives with hydrogen fuel cells, allowing them to operate without direct emissions.
