The first-ever BMW M3 EV has been spied on the street with more of its production body on show. It’s been clear for a while now the electric 3 Series — possibly badged i3 — and the M3 spin-off will have styling based closely on the 2023 Vision Neue Klasse concept. Like the concept, the production i3/M3 has long, flat bonnet and boot lid, as well as low belt line. Up front there’s a wide double kidney grille that blends seamlessly into the headlights.

Ahead of its launch on June 18, Nissan has revealed some details about the third-generation Leaf, which is adopting an SUV-like design. The company revealed the new Leaf’s front profile at the end of March, showing off the car’s rounder shape, taller ride height, and aerodynamic front end.

The exterior of the long-rumoured Toyota FJ Cruiser successor has been exposed in a patent filing in the Philippines. First discovered by Top Gear Philippines, the SUV bears a striking resemblance to shadowy vehicle teased at the launch of the 250-Series LandCruiser Prado, as well as the 2022 Compact Cruiser EV concept (below). All three vehicles have a stepped side window line, a C-pillar so thick it could block out the sun, and black wheel arch extensions that blend into the bumpers.

The Skoda Favorit broke new ground when it debuted back in 1987, bringing modern Western Europe design to those living in the communist east, and now it’s back as an EV concept. The Skoda Favorit concept was designed by Ljudmil Slavov, an interior designer at the Czech automaker, and David Stingl, a 3D modeller at Skoda. Mr Slavov says he used 120 hours of his own time to reimagine the Favorit as a modern EV.

A whole host of new functionality is coming to Android Auto, the smartphone mirroring system available in almost all new cars sold today. When Apple launched CarPlay in 2014, and Google released Android Auto in 2015, both tech giants restricted mirroring functionality primarily to navigation, audio playback, and basic messaging for safety reasons.

Stellantis, the parent company of 14 brands including Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Citroen, Opel/Vauxhall, Fiat, Maserati and Alfa Romeo, has appointed Antonio Filosa, currently the chief operating officer of Stellantis North America and the automaker’s global chief quality officer, as its new CEO. The first technical details about the electric version of the Mazda EZ-60 — expected to be called CX-6e in Europe and other export markets — have been revealed in China. Details submitted by Mazda to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) as part of the car’s certification process have published by Car News China. Unveiled at the Shanghai motor show at the end of April, the EZ-60 will go on sale in China later this year.
