    7 1/1 Before the fall of Singapore which led to the hell and horror of the Japanese PoW camps Sundays were special…the day when members of one of the most exclusive clubs on the island got together. There were only half a dozen in what became known as The Norwich Club and this rare photograph was given to me many years ago by one of the members, Dennis Field. Other members were Rouse Voisey, Dick Bush, Jack High, Harry Harris and Sonny Austin.

    Michael was the “Postcard Man” who, with his late wife, Sylvia, raised more than £120,000 to support the work of the Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society. He was named an Unsung Hero of the Year at the EDP Stars of Lowestoft and Waveney Awards and was then honoured by the Prime Minister at the time Theresa May. She awarded him a Points of Light award, which recognised outstanding volunteers making an impact in their community and inspiring others.

    10 1/1 "It’s been a long time since a young player has made such a brilliantly successful entry into Norfolk cricket," our words in 1931 and the schoolboy we were writing about was called David Walker. David was making his debut in a match between Norfolk and New Zealand when he defied the tourists’ attack for two hours. Today very few people have heard of David who went on to be hailed as one of the greatest cricketers in the world.
