Chet Hanks isn’t afraid to admit it: he has no game. He can hardly dribble or shoot a basketball. Those lack of skills might seem likely to eliminate him from starring on Netflix’s new basketball comedy Running Point as Travis Bugg, the star point guard for the Los Angeles Waves. But when he picked up a copy of Sara Varon's 2007 graphic novel, about the friendship between an anthropomorphic dog and his robot companion, Berger was so taken with it that he knew he needed to turn it into a movie. After receiving Varon's blessing, he set out to make his first animated movie.

After spending more than a decade of their lives spearheading the phenomenon that was HBO's "Game of Thrones," David Benioff and D.B. Weiss weren't necessarily in a rush to return to the world of adaptation. Neither had taken the quick plunge into Liu Cixin's Chinese science-fiction epic "The Three-Body Problem" when the proposal of a series was first presented to them, despite it already sitting unread on Weiss' Kindle.
