The 23-year-old played well against Rangers; blameless for Cyriel Dessers’ strike, several big saves from Vaclav Cerny and Nico Raskin and decent distribution while a cool head throughout.

BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed he’s nursing key men for Celtic’s Treble bid at Hampden on 24 May. Stopper Cameron Carter-Vickers will now step out of the side to nurse a hamstring issue while Nicolas Kuhn and Alistair Johnston both missed Ibrox as they deal with knee and hip concerns just three weeks from the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen. Long term absentee Kasper Schmeichel is also working towards being fit for the end of month showpiece.

Rangers midfielder Raskin pinched Engels’ place in the national squad for their Nations League play-offs in March. And he was this week by his team-mates and supporters. Yet the 24-year-old was snubbed by his fellow pros for PFA Scotland’s prestigious awards, while Celtic midfielder Engels made the shortlist for Young Player of the Year.
