    A health organisation has raised the red flag over rising cases of Neglected Tropical Diseases in the country, saying at least 25 million people — nearly half of the total population — are affected. Amref Country Director Meshak Ndirangu said a recent survey shows that the infection rate of intestinal worms is eight per cent in every 100 people. Other than the worms, bilharzia is also on the list of NTDs affecting large masses.

    Opposition leader, Raila Odinga on Saturday (September 9) launched fresh attacks on President William Ruto, accusing the government of planning to introduce more taxes. Mr Odinga said the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance has abandoned the “hustlers” it campaigned to protect. The utterances come at a time when the administration has proposed to increase deductions to the National Hospital Insurance Fund.

Mr Oparanya claimed the government asked him to abandon Mr Odinga during last week's raids by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officials and help President Ruto market Western region ahead of the 2027 elections.
