    The U.S. State Department will “aggressively” revoke visas for Chinese students at colleges and universities, according to a statement Wednesday night from Sec. Marco Rubio. Rubio said the purge would include students connected to the Chinese Communist Party and those studying “critical fields,” without specifying which disciplines would be targeted. He also said he’ll revise the criteria and enhance scrutiny for future visa applications from China and Hong Kong.

    Suffolk County police said they shut down five businesses and arrested eight people during a crackdown on illegal marijuana sales. Officials said they visited 44 businesses with prior complaints to make sure they’re in compliance with state marijuana law, and found 26 shops with violations. That includes selling recreational marijuana without a valid state license and selling to minors.

    Suffolk County police announced increased patrols to crack down on dangerous driving and boating. The increased police presence will remain throughout the summer, when cases of intoxicated driving tend to surge. “We're putting even more people out because we are concerned about the dangerous roads that we have," Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine said.

    A federal judge in Central Islip sentenced the ex-congressman Friday to the maximum sentence of 87 months in prison over multiple wire fraud and identity theft charges in connection with his 2022 run for Congress. He’s also been ordered to pay over half a million dollars in restitution and forfeitures.
