On May 8, the Redding Police Department released the video of an officer-involved shooting from March 2025, which took place in the Safeway parking lot on East Cypress Avenue. Police said officers knew David Schaefer had felony warrants for his arrest.

    SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — The family of the 5-year-old boy whose body was found in the Klamath River after a days-long search is speaking out. Laurie Rice is the grandmother of the 5-year-old, Jameson Watts. Rice told KRCR she, Jameson’s parents, Misty Halloran and Alan Watts, along with a friend, were on a road trip to visit family on May 1 when they stopped for a break along the Klamath River. While Jameson was playing in the water, she said family warned him not to go too far.
