A new branch of the beloved Asian supermarket H Mart is expected to open in Davis Square, according to employees of company locations in both Burlington and Cambridge. Over the phone, one worker told the Daily over the phone that although the opening has been continuously delayed, she believes its doors will open this summer.

JumboCode organized Tufts’ first hackathon in five years over the weekend of Feb. 17–18 in the Joyce Cummings Center. JumboCode, one of the biggest coding clubs at Tufts, focuses on creating quality software for nonprofit organizations. Around 150 students participated in the event, which also featured guest speakers and workshops. “No one on campus right now has ever experienced a hackathon,” senior Tyler Thompson, co-president of JumboCode, said.

The new spring break experience promotes civic engagement with local communities. In March, students will have the opportunity to dedicate their spring breaks to civic engagement through a new program, Jumbo Spring Break, which was collaboratively designed over the last semester by the Dean of Students Office, Tufts Community Union Senate, Tisch College of Civic Life, Career Center and the Chaplaincy.

Annual tradition showcases aspects of the Tufts community and neighboring communities. Tufts held its annual Community Day event on Oct. 1 at the Academic Quad. Neighboring community members from Medford and Somerville were invited to campus to attend family-friendly activities and performances organized by Tufts students, faculty and staff. Rocco DiRico, executive director of government and community relations at Tufts, explained the importance of integrating with the local community.
