Thanks to all of you who joined the live conversation last night at my latest live WTL Author forum with Adam Taylor, president of Sojourners and author of A More Perfect Union: A New Vision for Building the Beloved Community. Hi Readers, I’m writing to you after a busy but maybe disjointed day. I spent the morning feverishly changing bedding and taking an ill older son to the doctor (then racing to the other clinic after the first one was no longer taking walk-in patients) - and then prepping for an afternoon live Zoom session with the person who has been my biggest inspiration right here on this platform ( !) as well as the CEO of Public Religion Research Institute, Melissa Deckman.

Dear Cottage friends,As I write, snow is falling in Washington, DC. It is quiet; we are wrapped in silence. It feels like a holy gift, the welcome grace of a noiseless night. Yesterday, many of you wrote or commented on the news I shared about the lawsuit filed by some of our denominations to protect the freedom of religion we cherish. A large number of you remarked that the case gave you hope. Today, I share Wendell Berry’s “A Poem on Hope” as words of wisdom on this Wednesday.
