    These are the words I said to my mother each night when she would tuck me in for sleep. First she would say to me "Dors Bien Cherie" (sleep well darling) and then I would say "Dors Bien Maman" (sleep well Mommy). My mother wasn't born French, but French was her mother language. Lucy Winslow Curtis was born in New York City in 1925. Only two months old, her elderly father died and her very young mother evidently didn't want to be burdened with a baby.
