Christians from across Plateau State on Easter Monday protested in Jos, the state capital, over the recent killings in Bokkos and Bassa local government areas, which claimed about 100 lives and led to destruction of property. The Christians, under the aegis of Church Leaders Denominational Forum on the Plateau, were mostly dressed in black and matched from the old government house in Rayfield to the new government house in Little Rayfield.

The Plateau State chapter of Women in Mining Nigeria (WIMIN) has called on the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals Development to ensure women’s inclusion in the implementation of the N1 trillion allocated for the sector in the 2025 budget. During the committee’s oversight visit to mining sites and institutions in Jos, WIMIN stressed that women contribute significantly across the mining value chain but remain underrepresented in policy and employment.

Nigeria Governors’ Forum Chairman and Governor of Kwara State Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Thursday, led a delegation of the Forum to commiserate with the government and people of Plateau over the recent violence in parts of the state. While commiserating with the families of the victims, he also commended the interventions of the security agencies, which prevented further escalation. The NGF delegation was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

A high court sitting in Jos, Plateau State, has adjourned the trial over the murder of Major-General Idris Alkali (rtd) to May 28 and 29, 2025, for the defendants to open their defence. The adjournment followed the continued cross-examination of retired Major-General U. I. Mohammed on Wednesday. Before this, the prosecution had formally closed its case.
