Filmmaker Roshan Sethi debuted his comedy A Nice Indian Boystarring his real-life partner Karan Soni as well as Zarna Garg and Sunita Mani at SXSW in Austin in 2024. The rom-com follows the relationship of Naveen (Soni) and Jay (Jonathan Groff), a white man adopted by two Indian parents. More than that, it unpacks the awkward inter-generational familial drama between Naveen, his parents (Garg and Harish Patel), and his sister (Mani). The movie also features actors Peter S. Kim and  Sas Goldberg.

In the two-person play Conversations with Mother, Tony Award-winning actor Matt Doyle plays the character of Bobby opposite Caroline Aaron who plays Maria Collavechio — Bobby’s mother. The comedy directed by Noah Himmelstein navigates the relationship between the conventional Italian matriarch and her free-spirited gay son over five decades. Conversations with Mother is a very personal for playwright Matthew Lombardo as it is semi-autobiographical.

For the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, Q.Digital was honored with GLAAD’s Barbara Gittings Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media.

On March 31, The Podcast Academy revealed the winners of its Fifth Annual Awards for Excellence in Audio — also known as  The Ambies. Held at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, the ceremony was hosted by multi-hyphenate comedian Tig Notaro and can be viewed on the Podcast Academy’s YouTube channel. Actor and comedian Matt Rogers accepted The Ambie for Best Comedy Podcast for the Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang — which was also nominated for a GLAAD Media Award.

Singer-songwriter superstar Maren Morris has released her first single “carry me through” from her upcoming album D R E A M S I C L E, which is set to be released on May 9. The soulful ballad reflects on navigating a dark place and finding the strength to pull yourself out — a theme of resilience that runs throughout the entire album. “This was written in early 2023 before a lot of things went down I really do think sometimes songs are premonitions,” said Morris.
