ST. PETERSBURG - Will Moore never swam in the pool or jogged around the track in the old YMCA at 116 Fifth St. S. But the Mediterranean Revival-style building means a lot to him: Moore's grandfather and great-grandfather built the structure nearly a century ago. And while the space remains shuttered, Moore is on a mission to remember its legacy. The mustard-yellow structure, which opened in June 1927, has sat vacant for decades.

ST. PETERSBURG - With a swirl of bright teal paint for whiskers, the artist known as Palehorse (real name Christopher Parks) filled in the face of a neon-orange tiger as part of his mural homage to Salvador Dali. He and 12 other muralists were invited by the world-famous museum in St. Petersburg to paint on the walls and express the influence that the surrealist had on them.

ST. PETERSBURG - The Florida Holocaust Museum, which closed last July for major renovations, is going to reopen to the public on Sept. 9. The museum at 55 Fifth St. S. in downtown St. Petersburg was founded in 1992 and is one of the largest such museums in the United States - and a leader in getting Holocaust studies added to Florida public school curriculum.

A pickleball club at St. Petersburg High School started by students three years ago has now doubled in size due to its popularity. Unused tennis courts were recently converted into six dedicated pickleball courts, and students meet after school every other Wednesday to play, including a mini-bracket tournament once a month. The school’s visual arts department chairperson, Rachel Koral, is the Pickleball Club sponsor.

The new restaurant was created in partnership with James Beard Award nominated-chef Lee Wolen and the acclaimed Michelin-starred Boka Restaurant Group.
