Nearly half a million people have fled southern Lebanon and the western region of Baalbek since Israel began dropping bombs there on September 23, according to the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdallah Bou Habib. We spoke to people on the ground who are mobilising to help displaced families. At least 700 people, including women and children, have died and more than 1,800 have been wounded since Israel began strikes on Lebanon on Monday, according to Lebanese authorities.

Social media users widely relayed a rumour that a Gazan medical student was amongst 70 men arrested by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on December 14 near Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahya, in the north of the Gaza Strip. The student in question, Nasr Imad Al-Madhoun, finally spoke out, saying that he wasn’t one of the people in the photos published by the IDF.
