Pubs, bars and clubs that have signed up for a scheme designed to protect customers who are in fear for their safety are not implementing it, a BBC undercover investigation has found. The Ask for Angela initiative, a not-for-profit project in place at thousands of venues nationwide, aims to provide a discreet lifeline for people who believe they are in danger. Those with such fears are advised to use the code word "Angela", to indicate to staff they are in need of help.

The mother of a man who took his own life said she cried "in the middle of the shops" after discovering the NHS had ditched plans to conduct a suicides review. Last year, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust said it would look into all 63 suicides of its patients since 2017. Police are investigating reported thefts from vehicles at the Luton Airport car park destroyed by a fire. The blaze broke out and rapidly escalated in Terminal Car Park 2 on 10 October, when about 1,300 vehicles were parked inside. The airport said about 70% of vehicles had since been removed from the car park, which is being demolished in preparation for a replacement. Bedfordshire Police said it was working with the airport.

A care home resident was hit by a carer and had his food eaten by staff in the days before his death, undercover footage has revealed. Ron Carter, 82, died at The Gables in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, in May 2020 about six months after moving in. A hidden camera disguised as a clock in his room recorded what the care regulator has called "awful abuse". HC-One, which ran home, said the behaviour was "unacceptable" and has apologised to the family.
