ArticleThe Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) Order 2024 (the Order) came into force on 1 January. Based on the premise that sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has the potential to materially reduce the greenhouse gas impacts of aviation, the Order creates a mandate for sustainable aviation fuel in the UK and is anticipated to deliver a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of between 11 and 54 MtCO2e between 2025 and 2040[1].
