The Biden administration is pushing for relaxing regulations around marijuana (cannabis), asking the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to consider rescheduling cannabis, shifting it from schedule 1 to schedule 3. According to current Federal law, a second conviction for selling marijuana can bring a sentence of not less than 10 years or more than life. If death or serious bodily injury occur, life imprisonment is mandatory. Millions in fines can be imposed.
