On January 29, Geely announced that its 100,000th Geely Galaxy E5 rolled off the production line in China. In 2024, the E5 delivered 77,685 units, making it the fastest A-class all-electric SUV to achieve this record, Geely claimed. The new brand will be positioned higher than existing brands including Haval, WEY, Tank, and Ora, and is expected to compete directly with BYD’s Yangwang brand. The new BYD Qin Plus DM-i sedan has arrived in the store in China, powered by BYD’s DM 5.0 PHEV technology. Its price may start at 89,800 yuan (12,300 USD), which is 10,000 yuan (1,375 USD) more expensive than the current model on sale. BYD’s Denza N9 flagship SUV was spotted at a dealership in China, according to the Chinese website called Difans. Earlier this month, Zhao Changjiang, General Manager of Sales at Denza, announced that the Denza N9 will arrive at major dealers around the Lunar New Year (which starts on January 29), and will start test drive activities, followed by the official launch soon after. Both PHEV and EV variants will be offered.

On January 21, Chery’s Jetour brand released another video and more images teasing the first model under its new luxury off-road vehicle series called Zongheng (纵横 in Chinese), which will be officially unveiled on January 22 in China. The video also showed off the vehicle’s ability to wade through water and perform a tank turn. Jetour said the Zongheng series vehicles will have “forward-looking off-road technology” and a “luxury driving experience”.
